Rachel Smith – Trial Attorney, Advocate for Justice, and Founder of Injury Law Associates
Rachel Smith is a fierce advocate, dedicated trial attorney, and founder of Injury Law Associates, a boutique concierge law firm specializing in catastrophic injury cases. For nearly two decades, Rachel has been a relentless champion for justice, helping individuals and families who have suffered life-altering injuries caused by the negligence of others. From car, truck, and motorcycle crashes to dog bites, traumatic brain injuries, nursing home negligence, and sexual assault cases, Rachel has successfully fought for the rights of her clients, securing millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts.
Her approach is grounded in compassion and authenticity. Rachel takes the time to deeply understand her clients’ personal stories, often going the extra mile—literally. In one case, she flew to Australia to meet with a client and her family, immersing herself in their experience to present a compelling human narrative in court. This level of commitment is what makes Rachel’s advocacy so powerful. By conducting in-depth investigations, hosting focus groups, and preparing every case for trial, she ensures that her clients’ voices are heard and justice is pursued with unwavering determination.
Rachel’s career is defined not only by her legal victories but also by the recognition she has earned along the way. She has been named a “Super Lawyer” every year since 2009 and was selected as one of the “40 under 40” by the National Trial Lawyers. She was honored as a “Woman Who Means Business” by the Kansas City Business Journal, as well as being named to the “Best of the Bar” and Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association. In 2019, her firm was recognized with the “25 under 25” award, which honors the top 25 companies in Kansas City with fewer than 25 employees.
Beyond the courtroom, Rachel is a dedicated philanthropist and community advocate. Her law firm donates a portion of every settlement fee to charitable causes, furthering her mission to make a lasting impact both inside and outside the courtroom. As a former competitive cyclist, she remains passionate about advocating for the safety of cyclists and working to create safer roadways for all.
Rachel graduated with honors from Kansas State University and earned her Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration from the University of Kansas, where she was a prestigious Rice Scholar. Today, she continues to mentor young law students from her alma mater, offering guidance and inspiration to the next generation of legal advocates.
When she’s not in the courtroom or advocating for her clients, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her four children and two dogs. Her personal interests include cooking, entertaining, gardening, reading, and traveling. She strives to live a meaningful, joyful life filled with love, connection, and celebration. Her ultimate mission is simple but powerful: to leave a legacy of justice, compassion, and impact for her clients, her family, and her community.
